Wikileaks to publish Stratfor e-mails

So Wikileaks is back in the news. According to THIS ARTICLE, Julian Assange and his group are said to have started publishing emails from the security company Stratfor that exposes their methods of money laundering and corruption.

The interesting aspect of this situation is that these emails were retrieved by the hackers called Anonymous, and Wikileaks are said to have gotten their information from the same group.

There are two key concerns here that seem evident to me. The first is that the emails should be assumed to be 'private information', even though it might expose the corruption in Stratfor. So it begs to ask, does the means of hacking into their systems, justify the ends of exposing their crimes?

The second concern is that Stratfor is completely stonewalling the media and their response to Wikileaks. Wikileaks have not disclosed their sources for the information, even though it is common knowledge that it was probably from Anonymous. If the credabliity of the information comes into question, who would you side with? The notoriously scandalous Wikileaks, or the conflicting victims/criminals at Stratfor.

Food for though this week.

First Post

And yet again, I completely forgot about a deadline, and am three days late on this assignment. Well, better late than never.

What to expect in this blog

From the first Essay, and the few lectures that I have attended, it is evident that the subject of computers in society and the role of ethics in computers in general, is a very subjective and opinionated topic. Taking this into consideration, I will not only be keeping track of the course material in this blog, but I will also try and throw in my two cents on topics discussed in class, and try and shed opinions from all spectrums on issues.
